Phumyoeung Community Development Organization was founded in April 2013 after receiving our licence from Cambodia’s Ministry of Interior as a local NGO. Our organization focuses on community developme ... nt through education, especially in areas where poverty exists. We believe that education is a vital tool for our students to develop themselves personally and enhance their class mobility. We appreciate the value of English as an increasingly important language in Cambodia, which has one of the fastest developing economies among the South East Asian nations and a steadfast tourist industry. As well as English, we also teach our students basic computer skills that will help them to pursue a career. PCDO is founded by a mix of Cambodian locals and former international volunteers who saw value in performing educational activities in the village. Our board members are made up of citizens from Cambodia, Australia, the United States and Vietnam. Volunteers who are actively involved in the decision-making process of the organization have been changed by their brief visit to the village in some way and acquired a sense of responsibility in maintaining and nurturing the growth of the village community.
