Breezy HR is one of the relatively new entries the Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) market. The company was founded in 2014 by Darren Bounds, former Vice President of Technology at Taleo. It has since conducted two rounds of funding to the tune of almost $2 million and emerged as a notable player. The company's core product is its candidate management system, which provides a simple and easy-to-use platform for HR personnel. The tool presents relevant information about the applicant such as team notes, social media and referrals on a single actionable platform.

Breezy HR targets small to medium sized companies and provides a cheaper and more easily scalable alternative to more expensive ATS tools. Slintel has more than 800 customers listed for Breezy HR and most of these companies have less than 200 employees. About 25% of Breezy HR clients are based in the United States, but they also a relevant number of clients in Germany, Canada, and the United Kingdom. 

Breezy is being used by companies across diverse sectors such as Accounting, Machinery Manufacturing, E-Commerce, Cloud Computing, Real Estate, Healthcare, Advertising, Agriculture, Consumer Research and Augmented Reality.

  • Bamilo

Bamilo is an e-commerce marketplace startup based in Tehran, Iran. It is the first and largest venture of the Iran Internet Group, backed by South African telecommunication giant MTN Group Ltd.

  • Barloworld Equipment

Founded in 1947, Barloworld is exclusive earth-moving equipment and parts dealer of Caterpillar Inc. They are the sole dealer of CAT in Angola, Botswana, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Swaziland, and Zambia.

  • Black & McDonald

Headquartered in Toronto, Canada; Black & McDonald is a prime multi-trade contractor providing a full range of electrical, mechanical, utility and maintenance services.

  • Integral UK

Integral UK Ltd is the leading Mechanical, Electrical and Fabric property maintenance business in the UK, providing both Planned, Preventative and Reactive Maintenance to over 1,600 clients in 60,000 locations.

  • Shipt

An internet-based delivery service based in Birmingham, USA; Shipt was acquired by Target Corporation for $550 million in 2017. It currently has more than 500 employees. 

  • NordCloud

Founded in 2011, Nordcloud is a European leader in public cloud infrastructure solutions and cloud-native application services. The company employs 400+ people across offices in Helsinki (HQ), Stockholm, Oslo, London, Munich, Amsterdam, Poznań, Copenhagen, Malmö, and Jyväskylä.

  • Warren Wilson College

A private liberal arts college located in Asheville, North Carolina, Warren Wilson College was founded in 1894.

  • Cloud Factory

Based in Reading, UK; CloudFactory is a distributed workforce company for automating business processes involving large volumes of data entry, collection or processing. 

Other notable clients include Sectek, Generation Ready, Confirmit, Gravotech and the Tippmann Group. Breezy HR has also added Happyco to its customer list in the past month but has lost three clients in Receipt Bank, Hyperallergic and Minerva Schools.

Most of the Breezy HR renewals will be due between April and July 2019, with more than two dozens customer renewals set to happen in the month of June 2019.

The Competition

Breezy HR is not yet in a position to compete with the market leaders, Taleo, and iCIMS, that are far ahead in terms of the number of customers (Slintel has more than 4,500 companies listed for both). Even smaller players like Bamboo HR and Jazz HR are at a more advanced stage currently. Other companies such as SAP SuccessFactors and IBM Brassring are backed by major league corporations, so are currently in a better position, as well.

Some of the competitors who are more or less on par with Breezy in terms of the customer base are Smart Recruiters, CATs, Recruitee, Silkroad and Jobdiva.

The trends show that Workable has emerged as a significant competitor for Breezy HR since 31.8% of Breezy HR customers have moved from Workable, while on the other end, they have also lost 15.38% customers to Workable. Lever is another competitor for them, with 19.23% of their customers moving to Lever. On the other end, Breezy HR is acquiring many customers from Vervoe and Greenhouse (36.36% and 9.09% respectively).

Overall, the data shows that Breezy HR has carved out a solid place for itself competing in the small to mid-sized business market.
