Avature was founded in 2004 by Dimitri Boylan, one of the co-founders of Hotjobs.com, which was eventually sold to Yahoo! for $433 million. Now, Avature offers two solutions to its customers, Talent Acquisition (for new hirings) and Talent Management (for existing employees). It provides back-end automation for Hiring Managers and recruiters in their Applications Tracking System (ATS), which is a subset of their Talent Acquisition Solutions, also allowing massive volume recruitment and customization to suit a particular company's needs.

The Avature solution consists of an Internal Referral Portal, a Hiring Manager Portal,  an Agency Portal,  a Social Onboarding Tool and a Campus & Events portal. The sales team focuses on easy customization for their clients.

According to Slintel data, Avature has 304 customers, gaining 4 and losing 2 customers in January/19. One of the most significant recent customers is the American fast food chain, Whataburger that has more than 800 stores located across the country. This new customer acquisition could be justified by the fact that Avature has recently launched a Retail specific option for ATS systems. Other additions to the company's clients list were WCG Clinical, P&M Corporate Finance LLC and The Institution of Engineering and Technology.

The most notable customer loss was the career portal of ASML, a Dutch company and the largest supplier of photolithography systems for the semiconductor industry.  ASML employees more than 19,000 people and had revenues of €9.053 Billion in 2017.

Regarding demographics, the majority of their customers are based in the US, with Financial Services being the most significant industry that Avature caters to. It's also possible to say that, according to Slintel's data, that Avature is getting more traction in the small and medium business segment.

Key Competitors

With 304 customers, Avature ranks 44th out of 221 vendors who provide ATS software and are tracked by Slintel. The tracked data shows that there are only 18 vendors who have more than 1000 customers, 15 who have between 500 to 1000 customers. The two main players in the ATS space are Taleo and iCIMS, having more than 4,500 customers each. Other significant competitors providing ATS solutions are BambooHR, Workable, Jazz HR, Greenhouse and Workday Recruiting. The ATS market is highly fragmented with the two top players making up just 15% of the total market. Even a quick Google search will throw up more than 500 small and less-known vendors that claim to have ATS offers. Slintel tracks all the important, niche and upcoming players in a specific market and provides up to date and relevant information that would help you make better business decisions.

Avature’s competitors include Peopleadmin, FreshTeam, Homerun and Reachmee, none of which had any significant additions or deletions; it's possible to see that Avature is gaining traction in the ATS marketplace this past January. Workday Recruiting had the maximum number of customer additions for the month at 16, while BambooHR had 9 and Taleo had 6 additions.

Data shows that approximately 72% of Avature customers have come from Taleo. This could be an indication of customers wanting to move away from a large platform vendor (Oracle is the owner company of Taleo) towards a more agile ATS solution provider.

Approximately 50 customer contracts, especially those customers which Avature acquired from Taleo, will be up for renewal around April 2019. This could be an excellent opportunity for vendors interested in reaching out to Avature’s clients. It is interesting to note that iCIMS has acquired 44% of clients leaving Avature.
